Romae Cormier is one of the oldest members of the KSO as he has been playing violin with us since 1979. He also played with the Knoxville Symphony from 1954-1956. From 1969 to 1981 he has been involved in DeKalb's Stagecoach Theatre working on stage in construction and painting, props and make-up. He is retired from Northern Illinois University and as an insurance broker.

Romae is married to Sue, and they have 4 boys and 3 grandchildren. Romae's hobbies and interests include music (violin), arts and antiques, genealogy, ancient and European medieval history, wrestling, weightlifting, and annual visits to Quebec and New Brunswick, Canada, where he has many family members.

Romae's favorite composer and piece are Bazzini's Ronde des Lutins because it includes great variety for violin technique. He says, "I retired from NIU in May 1996, and doing something that I hope will last me 'til I die."
