Ina Simon started playing the flute in third grade. However, it wasn't until many years later that she learned her grandfather had been a flutist in the Tsar's military band.

Ina is now retired, but she worked in the DeKalb County schools as a school psychologist for almost 30 years. She also worked for several years teaching first-year graduate students

in NIU's school psychology program. Ina has been playing in the Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra for over 20 years. She feels fortunate to rehearse and play music she enjoys very much. Her favorite composers are really the old masters: Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and Brahms.
